Tennis Bracelet Anyone?

Have you ever wondered how the tennis bracelet got its name? I did and I have found that the original name given by jewelers for this much desired diamond jewelry used to be known as the Eternity Bracelet named for its continuous circle of small diamonds.

The story is told that during the U.S. Open in 1987 Chris Evert, who in case you do not know was the number one female tennis player in the world, was wearing a beautiful diamond eternity bracelet and it accidentally broke and flew off her arm during the match.

The U.S. open stopped play so that Chris could recover the diamonds that had scattered all over the tennis court. The broadcasters that were sitting courtside had some fun with the whole incident and started calling the broken bracelet Chrissy's "tennis bracelet".

A new and huge trend had been cast. Women everywhere wanted a tennis bracelet. Today tennis bracelets are still being worn by mega tennis stars such as Serena Williams and by women who don't have a clue how to hit a tennis ball such as myself!

For some of us less sophisticated golf enthusiast's celebrity golf brings an image of Bob Barker from the Price is Right, beating the living daylights out of Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore. Good times!

The amount of money that celebrities can bring in for some very worthwhile charities during celebrity golf tournaments is just incredible and I have to applaud the time and effort that is given by the stars and organizers of these events.

There are several celebrity big-hitters that contribute their time and talent to many of the tournaments such as Bill Murray (my personal favorite), Samuel Jackson, Alice Cooper and Hugh Grant. These guys know how to entertain us on the golf course almost as well as on the big screen and on stage!

If you were to ask an avid golfer where to find the top golf courses to play, you will find yourself teeing off in Scottsdale, Arizona.

One of these very popular golf courses is the public Desert Course at the TPC Scottsdale, made famous for its proximity to many championship tournaments at the TPC Stadium Course.

A huge reconstruction project lead by architect Randy Heckenkemper is set to be finished in less than a month much to the anticipation of all avid golfers!

The Desert Course that was built 20 years ago will be appropriately renamed the Champions Course. It is located next to where the FBR Open is held each year.

The Champions course is being lengthened to 7,100 yards and every hole on the course has been redesigned.

From Golf Tennis 365, the 2007 season's not finished yet, but the WTA already has crowned its Number One, and it's a known face: Justine Henin.

Physically, the twenty-five-year-old Belgian is one of the smallest players in the circuit (5-foot-5¾, 125 pounds), but today she's the fair and square Number One. It's no coincidence that this is the 2nd consecutive season she will end as the world's top-ranked player (something she achieved for the 1st time in 2003).

When Henin entered professional tennis in 1998, she was already a very complete player, with a fantastic forehand, an even better backhand with top spin and a very decent backhand with slice, which all made up for a game full of resources.

As Henin played professionally, her game improved and her maturity progressed. In a 2-year period following her professional debut, Henin made her way into the top fifty, and by 2001, she was ranked in the top ten.
