I do not know how many times golfers can mess this up but all golf balls that are used in practice or whatnot need to be of the regulation size and weight. Even the slightest difference in size or weight or even both can be disastrous because suddenly you are hitting something that is completely different from what you should be training on.

You can only be as good as what you are training with and the absence of the correct feel for the right kinds of balls could be terrible when you are forced to use regulation balls. Thus, in each and every situation, the golf balls that you use should and must be of regulation and uniform size.

If you are a parent and are like the majority of us living on a budget you have come to dread the words "my shoes hurt me mommy!"

I remember the days when every time I turned around one of my kids was growing out of something or other and I had to run out and buy new. I learned that it is cruel and unusual punishment to make a kid go to school in high water pants while waiting for the next big blow out sale but when it comes to shoes there is no bargaining with time.

I am thankful for places like Kohl’s, J.C.Penney and Target for their great deals on kids shoes I also want to thank K-mart and Wal-Mart as well as Payless shoes! All these stores seem to get it when it comes to shoes for kids parents are going to go buy cheap kids tennis shoes every time. Sure we may occasionally be suckered into the top of the line shoes for a special sports event but we do so with the knowledge that it is going to hurt us more than our kids when those shoes start to pinch their feet!

Mini Golf is Great For Family Time

One of the fondest memories I have of spending time with my kids is when we would go and play mini golf. We could laugh and have a good time playing while at the same time developing the skills of golf and sportsmanship.

There is nothing better than being outdoors on a beautiful day with your family making the most of precious time together. If you like to golf and want your children to learn to appreciate the game as much as you do try starting them out with miniature golf and see what they think!

My kids and I always had a blast and now they love going the game anyway they can get it whether it is on the greens of the Phoenician or at our local mini golf course we love the game and it is a great way to have quality time together.

Now that the FBR Open has ended the residents of Scottsdale and the surrounding towns can settle back to their normal routines and begin the recovery process from all the rowdy partying that filled the week of tournament activities.

The Crows nest is a famous party spot of the FBR and with crowds of 100,000 people a day pouring into the event it has been said that this is one of the richest and most well attended events in the PGA tour.

Not everybody who came to the FBR was here to party. Did anybody realize that former president George Walker Bush was there to hold a discussion with FBR employees and guests that was moderated by historian Doris Kearns-Goodwin?

Eric Billings held the business conference in the midst of the partying but since his company is the sponsor I would say this plan has paid off quite nicely for the chairman and chief executive of Friedman, Billings and Ramsey Group. (Thus the FBR Open)

Sad to See Your Favortie Pro Tennis Players Retire

Many Pro tennis players that become fan favorites get tired or burned out and retire from the game early in life. We are never certain what would make somebody with so much talent and grace on the court want to stop playing a game they clearly love and are extremely good at.

Such is the case with Belgian tennis star Kim Clijsters. She reportedly decided to leave the game after her marriage in July and she is expecting her first child due this month. As with many superstars you can always hope for a come back and there are already whispers that it may be in the work for our very popular Kim although at this time she denies them.

The good news for you if you adore Kim is that you can at least buy her book, My Fans, and get a glimpse into the super stars interesting life.

FBR Open Competes With the Super Bowl and Parties Galore!

January 28th kicked off what is called “The Greatest Show in the Grass” or otherwise known as the FBR Open here in beautiful Scottsdale Arizona.

The event is a great opportunity to watch top notch players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mikelson and other well known players come out to compete while enjoying one of the most popular golf courses in the world along with being able to soak up some of the most perfect weather to be found, but make no mistake about it the parties that are notorious for being a part of the FBR scene in Scottsdale are going into full swing with throngs of people trying to be a part of the happening sports weekend.

Millions of people are swarming to the Valley of the Sun this week for the FBR but also for the Super Bowl that is being hosted by Arizona in the city of Glendale. I think that Pebble Beach golf course is probably one of the top 5 most beautiful golf courses in the world. It is also known by the name of Cypress point.

It is has a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the rocky cliffs on which it is built upon. The cypress trees surround the course as well thus the other name, Cypress point.

This wonderfully designed golf course was given high honors by golf digest not just for its fantastic views but because it is a really nicely designed course that has hosted its fair share of USGA championships!

If I could pick any golf course in the world to go and play this would be my first choice. How much more could you ask for in a day than to enjoy the fresh ocean breezes on a world class course with views that will take your breath away.

Beach Tennis to Sweep the US

One of the hottest new sports to hit the United States in quite some time is Beach Tennis. You take a little sun, sand and the ocean and combine it with the fast paced excitement of tennis and you have created the optimum game called beach tennis!

Beach tennis is played like a tennis game except it uses a regulation beach volley ball court with a ball that is slightly depressurized. There are two players to a team and the ball is hit back and forth with out bouncing. I guess that would be interesting to see a ball that could bounce in sand!

I enjoy tennis the beach and volley ball so if you do too you will love this new and creative sport that allows you to enjoy the best of many worlds. Of course I will need to wear my bikini while I play since I do not want to miss out on an opportunity to work on my tan at the beach!

If you are a beginner to the wonderful game of golf I can assure you there is no shortage of websites that offer all kinds of advice on how to play the game. From your stance to your swing and even the mental state you need to have there is information galore.

Choosing the most uncomplicated advice has always worked for me and sometimes browsing through the site will give you a feel for the author of the book or article and if he or she is speaking the language that moves you.

I am a visual person so I like to have my information that I have collected and then act it out to see and feel for myself it that is indeed the style I can relate to. Golf swings can make or break your game but if it does not make sense in the material you are reading you could wind up like a pretzel and frustration can set in. There is much to be said for tennis skirts. I have to start out by wondering how it all began. From the history I have been able to find women used to play tennis in dresses because in the 1800
'’s pants were not appropriate for ladies. The skirts were not the worst of it they had to wear corsets under long sleeved collared shirts with ties!

I cannot imagine playing such a rigorous game such as tennis dressed up in such a costume it had to make things so much more difficult! Over time the corsets disappeared and the hem lines went up and practicality set in with the invention of the tennis skirt! A built in set of shorts with the look of a feminine skirt!

Some tennis players opt to wear shorts but overall the tennis skirt has kept its popularity throughout the years and can seen even off the courts as a status symbol. Aside from being practical it is after all sexy.

Every major sports clothing manufacturer has a full line of tennis wear with its tennis skirts leading the fashion statements! Men’s tennis wear is now trying to come up with its own sexy little fashion changes to keep up with the attention the ladies seem to grab on the court with their style.

There are a lot of rules in the game of tennis and I do know most of them. I do not like a lot of them because I would rather just get out there on the court and have fun.

A lot of tennis player friends of mine do not share my sentiments and winning is quite the important goal of the match. I can understand of course and I will comply for awhile anyway and then something tugs at me and I just start having fun tossing rules and proper tennis form out the window.

It is not that I am a great player in fact what irritates most people about me is I am a pretty good player but I guess you could say I am not a serious player. I often get asked if I know how to play tennis and my response is of course I know how to play! I love to play do you?

When it comes to buying a golf cart you may want to consider buying one that has been used. Saving money is always more fun than spending it in my opinion but why take my word for it?

Go online and you will be able to find hundreds of sites that are dedicated to refurbishing golf carts and even customizing them to their customer base. All at much more affordable prices than buying one brand new.

Not that much has changed in golf carts over the last few years that would make me insist on spending more for a new one rather than looking at the option of well maintained used golf carts.

You can shop on E-bay and find some good deals or your local sports shops can give you tips where to purchase a good deal. I have found that the good old classified ads online can help you locate a local seller who can probably let you know a few good local courses as part of the deal!

The Pool Is a Great Spot For Table Tennis!

I am pretty sure everybody loves table tennis! Maybe you know it as Ping Pong but it is one and the same game and is very popular!

My kids have wanted a table tennis game for years but the biggest problem I had was that I had no place to put the darn thing! The kids felt the garage was a great idea but my husband and I have grown fond of having our cars parked in there so that was no dice! The next suggestion was the dining room! What? No way! I actually do use that room for Thanksgiving and Christmas and sometimes for other special occasions. Ok so maybe that is not right or fair in the minds of my children but the thought of a ping pong table in my dining room makes me think we will end up on Jerry Springer or COPS. Just does not seem socially acceptable.

I have been feeling shamed by my snobbishness so I set out on a mission to find a compromise and I finally did! I found a tennis table for the pool! This game is so popular it now has its own pool version. This has proven perfect for my family. One other version that was a possibility was one where a door could flip to become a tennis table. Pretty ingenious invention!

Well I am feeling better about myself as a mother since I now allowed a ping pong table into our home so if you have felt the same way, now you know there is an out!

Purchasing Golf Shoes as a Gift is Not a Good Idea For Rookies!

My husband wants golf shoes for Christmas. I thought that would be an easy gift to pick up for him until I saw the selection of golf shoes that are available! Not only are there hundreds of brands to choose from but hundreds of styles on top of that!

The easy shopping trip had suddenly become quite a bit more complicated than expected and I needed help fast! Fortunately for me a friend of mine also has a husband who loves to golf and collects golf shoes as more of a hobby since I do not believe he will ever wear them all during his life time!

It is very important to keep in mind the weather conditions if you play where it rains quite a bit. In Arizona that is not really a concern so I next focused on finding one that is light weight and very comfortable. I was told that the game depends on the swing and that in turn depends on the stance and you guessed it that depends on the feet and how comfortable they are!

The old Oxford style golf shoes are still around but there are newer sleeker looks that are more popular on the course these days! You should check out Nike, Adidas, Etonic and Dexter for the latest and newest golf shoes! There are so many choices that unless you are familiar to the game and understand golf shoes do not attempt this purchase on your own!

A Sharpened Tennis Serve Can Give You the Edge

The tennis serve is the way in which a lot of professionals express their unique style and strength. The serve is difficult to master and takes a lot of practice.

Although tennis matches are not necessarily won or lost over a serve it does effect the overall direction of the game and when the serve is done with consistency and power it can give you an advantage over your opponent in the long run.

I am trying to improve my serving skills and I recently came upon an article on the internet that wrote about Zen in tennis. This is using your mental senses and not the physical such as sight to help you accurately hit your target. It is an interesting way to teach you to serve better by using this imagery technique.

Focus, determination and a bit of flair also help make up a good tennis serve. As I continue to practice in hopes of bettering my skills I am going to try any and all ideas to master my tennis serve!

Using Golf Carts to Arrive in Style

Bill Murray has proven that golf carts are not just for riding around on the golf course but rather could also be a great way to get about town!

Not that anything he is famous for is considered normal behavior but it certainly makes a statement that transportation certainly is in the eye of the beholder.

In this particular case the legendary super star saw this randomly displayed golf cart as his ideal form of transportation to a local disco in Stockholm, Sweden.

Some people have found this as odd and wonder out loud what he was up to but If you have followed Bill Murray’s career then you know that this is just simply what most of us fans consider as a Murryism.

Drunk? Sober? Does it really matter? Bill Murray would pull this kind of stunt without the provocation of alcohol without a second thought! If you live in Arizona like I do you are accustomed to seeing people driving their golf carts around their master planned communities so it really is no surprise for Mr. Murray to take things a step further with a little jaunt down to the local Swedish disco!

Although Bill Murray pulled this little trip off in style I do not think that most people could do it with any luck what so ever! Driving golf carts to the local hot spots should be left to the professionals like Bill Murray.
